Betula nigra
This graceful tree features a broad, pyramidal to rounded crown, creating an elegant silhouette. Young stems show attractive pink to orange bark that darkens with age. Its diamond-shaped leaves are glossy green on top and bluish-gray underneath. It thrives in moist, sandy soils and handles areas that are wet seasonally, yet is also tolerant of dry conditions. Prefers full sun to partial shade and is resistant to bronze birch borer, making it a durable choice for a variety of landscapes.
