Ilex crenata 'Sky Pencil'
Sky Pencil Holly- A sleek, upright evergreen perfect for narrow spaces or formal accents. Grows well in average, well-drained soil with medium moisture, in full sun to part shade. Tolerates a wide range of soils—from sand to clay, moist to dry—but prefers light, acidic soil with good drainage. Once established, it has some drought tolerance but may struggle in hot, humid climates.
'Sky Pencil' is an all-female variety and needs a nearby male holly for fruit production. Naturally maintains its narrow, columnar shape with little to no pruning.
May need winter protection in colder areas (Zone 5); plant in a sheltered spot and mulch for added cold resistance. Alkaline soils will cause leaves to yellow.
